Smart Surveillance Product Completes Test and On Track for Certification

Rochester, N.Y. (Business Wire) ---September 29, 2006---A team at the U.S. Air Force 642d Electronic Systems Squadron (642 ELSS) is completing a series of technical evaluations at Eglin AFB - C3, of a developmental unit of P&L E-Communications, LLC AVT234-Target Motion Cueing (TMC) video motion detection (VMD) system used to provide physical perimeter security. These tests are part of an Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ACTD) procurement process.

The TMC unit has significantly reduced false alarms and is capable of being automatically reconfigured to permit use with both video and thermal imagery during either day or night and eliminates or significantly reduces nuisance alarms with a 97.8% probability of detection at over 95% confidence level. "The results of this Technical Evaluation will support fielding decisions by Headquarters Air Force Security Forces Center (HQ AFSFC)", said Mr. James H. Davis, Test Coordinator, at 642d ELSS.

Based on the success of TMC, PLE recently received a contract extension from the pentagon to continue researching other complimentary University of Rochester (UofR) legacy algorithms which build upon TMC functionality and are being provided to PLE under a master licensing agreement with the university’s Office for Technology Transfer (OTT). The goal of the program is to provide force protection personnel with improved accuracy of Video Motion Detection (VMD) used with existing video surveillance systems around the world.

PLE has received notification from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that because of TMC’s documented test and performance it will most likely be certified and registered for Safety Act coverage.
