Rochester, N.Y. (Business Wire) ---August 17, 2007---P&L E-Communications, LLC (PLE) demonstrated our AVT234 rapidly deployable/redeployable
perimeter surveillance kit at the Force Protection Equipment Demonstration (FPED) VI running from 14-16 August 2007 at the Stafford Regional Airport, Stafford, Virginia.
The demonstration, sponsored by the Office for the Secretary of Defense (OSD) is held every two years to provide leaders and decision-makers
from the DoD, federal departments and agencies, federal contractors in the force protection field, selected state and local law enforcement
and other first responder agencies, and corrections agencies the opportunity to observe, and become familiar with, commercial-off-the-shelf
force protection equipment available for procurement and testing within 90 days of the scheduled demonstration.
The AVT234© TMC© kit is a commercial-off-the shelf non-developmental item (COTS/NDI) for an expeditionary unattended change detection capability
that is a quickly deployable / redeployable system using four (4) EO/IR sensors for persistent full motion video analytics with proven significant
reduction in video false alarms. Technically, our analytic solution has incorporated an adaptive classification scheme that raises an alarm only
when there is an extremely high degree of confidence that there is an intrusion caused by a significant activity - insignificant nuisance alarms and
false alarms are virtually eliminated without needing any prior knowledge of the scene being surveyed. AVT234© can be purchased as a full deployable
kit or as a focused persistent surveillance solution that can be easily integrated with existing PC’s.
PLE is happy to support the Department of Defense through the DoD Physical Security
Equipment Action Group (DoD PSEAG),the Joint Staff’s Directorate of
Operations for Combating Terrorism, the Department of Energy, the Technical Support Working Group
(TSWG), and the National Institute of Justice.
Working with the US Army Product Manager, Force Protection
Systems (PM-FPS), Fort Belvoir, Virginia, PLE hopes to coordinate demonstrations of their current state-of-the-art
commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and systems to DoD, federal agency, and selected state
and local law enforcement and corrections agency decision makers responsible for force protection and
physical security.
The Rochester region really lends itself to imaging science and sensing," said Paul Simpson, director of
government systems at PL-E Communications LLC, a local company that demonstrated their emerging techonolgy to enable smart-surveillance software that
can filter out background distractions and identify threats for improved perimeter surveillance at FPEd.
