Rochester, N.Y. (Business Wire) ---October 01, 2007---P&L E-Communications, LLC (PLE) demonstrated our AVT234 rapidly deployable/redeployable
perimeter surveillance kit at the 2007 FAST Fall (SA/UAS&E) Program Reviews at Fort Belvoir, VA.
The demonstration, sponsored by U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command - Field Assistance in Science and Technology (RDECOM-FAST)
provides commanders immediate access to labs and centers in AMC’s RDECOM and expedite's technology solutions to soldiers in theatre.
The AVT234© TMC© kit is a commercial-off-the shelf non-developmental item (COTS/NDI) for an expeditionary unattended change detection capability
that is a quickly deployable / redeployable system using four (4) EO/IR sensors for persistent full motion video analytics with proven significant
reduction in video false alarms. Technically, our analytic solution has incorporated an adaptive classification scheme that raises an alarm only
when there is an extremely high degree of confidence that there is an intrusion caused by a significant activity - insignificant nuisance alarms and
false alarms are virtually eliminated without needing any prior knowledge of the scene being surveyed. AVT234© can be purchased as a full deployable
kit or as a focused persistent surveillance solution that can be easily integrated with existing PC’s.
PLE is happy to support RDECOM-FAST a network composed of S&T Advisors in the field, Quick Reaction Coordinators and RDECOM-FAST HQs that
has been successful in providing AMC/RDECOM a means of getting technology into the field and knowledge of field needs to the RD&E community.
The program has provided field experience to over 200 AMC Engineers and Scientists; it has tackled over 1200 projects, and has seen the
introduction into the field of a number of its products. Some of these products have made major contributions in cost avoidance,
improved capability, training and safety.
Working with RDECOM-FAST, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, PLE hopes to coordinate demonstrations of their current state-of-the-art
commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and systems to DoD, federal agency, and selected state
and local law enforcement and corrections agency decision makers responsible for force protection and
physical security.
The Rochester region really lends itself to imaging science and sensing," said Paul Simpson, director of
government systems at PL-E Communications LLC, a local company that demonstrated their emerging techonolgy to enable smart-surveillance software that
can filter out background distractions and identify threats for improved perimeter surveillance at FPEd.
